Mini Grant Q & A

Q. WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS ARE FUNDED?
Any type of project related to early childhood care and education could be a winner, as long as it is developmentally appropriate. Successful applicants have included teachers, assistants, family day care providers, administrators, consultants, and college professors. Membership in NYSAEYC is a requirement for the current year and for the year in which the funded project takes place.

Q. HOW MUCH MONEY DOES A GRANT WINNER RECEIVE?
Up to $500

Q. HOW DO I WRITE THE GRANT?
You need to communicate a clear idea of your project in a required written format. Come to the Mini Grant Workshop at the NYSAEYC Conference in May and listen to this year’s winners describe how they did it. You can ask questions and look at copies of past winners’ projects.

Q. HOW DO I GET A GRANT APPLICATION?
Attend the workshop at the NYSAEYC Conference or call the State Office at (518) 867-3517 or 1-800-246-AEYC to request an application. Be sure to give your name and mailing address when making this request.

Q. WHAT IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?
Three copies of the grant proposal must be postmarked by July 15, 2008 and sent to: NYSAEYC, 230 Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, NY 12203. For questions about Mini Grants you may also contact Michael McCartney, Mini Grant Chair, at: 716-877-6666, ext. 3013 or e-mail: mini22mini_1999@yahoo.com
